Job summary

Bradford Council MDC is recruiting a waste disposal labourer/operative to join the team. The role includes weekend work (6.5 hours Saturday, 5.5 hours Sunday) paid at enhanced rates, with progression criteria to become a waste disposal operative.

You will be responsible for the safe operation of a waste disposal location, including plant and machinery, at transfer stations or household waste recycling centres, while assisting the public with waste disposal and advice to help meet recycling

Qualifications

• Experience of manual work, handling of weights, lifting and walking long distances.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to complete associated paperwork.
• Driving licence would be desirable but not essential.
• A CITB certificate would be desirable but not essential as training is given.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe operation of a waste disposal location, including associated plant and machinery at transfer stations and/or household waste recycling centres.
• Assist the public depositing waste and provide help and advice to meet recycling targets.
