Job summary

Bradford Council MDC is seeking a waste disposal labourer/operative to join the team at our Household Waste Recycling Centres. The role involves weekend work (6.5 hours Saturday / 5.5 hours Sunday) with enhanced rates. You will operate the site safely, assist the public with waste deposits and guidance to support recycling targets.

Experience in manual labour, lifting, and long walks is expected. Good literacy and numeracy are required for paperwork.

Qualifications

• Experience of manual work, handling of weights, lifting and walk long distances.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to complete paperwork.
• Driving licence would be desirable but not essential.
• CITB certificate would be desirable but not essential as training is given.

• Safe operation of a waste disposal location, including plant and machinery.
• Ensure the public can deposit waste and receive help and advice to meet targets.
• Work at Household Waste Recycling Centres within the district.

Waste & Fleet Services are looking to recruit a waste disposal labourer/operative to join our dedicated team working at our Household Waste Recycling Centres within the district.

The role involves working weekends, 6.5 hours Saturday/5.5 hours Sunday paid at the appropriate enhanced rates.

This post has a career grade criteria which must be achieved to progress to waste disposal operative.

The objective of the post is to be responsible both individually and as a team, for the safe operation of a waste disposal location, including associated plant and machinery at transfer stations and or household waste recycling centres.

To ensure that the public can deposit their waste , receive help and advice so as to help Bradford Council MDC meet government/operational recycling targets.

You will need to haveExperience of manual work, handling of weights, lifting and walk long distances.

Good literacy and numeracy skills in order to complete associated paperwork.

A driving license would be desirable but is not essential.

A CITB certificate would be desirable but not essential as training is given.
