Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Weekend Support Worker to assist women with complex needs in a refuge and community setting. The role emphasizes trauma-informed, person-centred support, and structured activities during weekend shifts.

You will help residents build confidence, independence and safer futures, while maintaining records and collaborating with partner agencies. Weekend availability and a compassionate, resilient approach are essential.

Qualifications

• This role is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010 due to the service context.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills are required.
• Understanding of safeguarding is essential.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Compassionate, empathetic and resilient with calmness under pressure.
• Professional boundaries and handling confidential information.
• Organised and able to maintain accurate records.
• Able to work the stated weekend pattern and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Build positive professional relationships and provide practical and emotional support.
• Deliver daily living skills, wellbeing, leisure and therapeutic activities.
• Welcome and induct new residents into the service.
• Promote safety and complete welfare and building checks.
• Record important information accurately and maintain confidential records.
• Respond calmly to challenging situations and provide appropriate support.
• Collaborate with criminal justice and support agencies for positive outcomes.
• Act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required.
