Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Weekend Outpatients Receptionist to support the Booking & Reception Team. You will welcome patients, verify details, and manage appointments, working in a busy outpatient setting with NHS systems and a patient-focused approach.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English or equivalent.
• Knowledge of NHS systems (EPR, e-RS, PAS).
• Experience in customer/patient facing environments.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients to the outpatient areas and verify information.
• Book and manage appointments; update computer systems accurately.
• Handle telephone queries and triage messages for staff.
• Work in the call centre speaking to patients about appointments, changes and cancellations.
• Record and pass on messages to appropriate staff promptly.
• Manage patient complaints in a courteous and professional manner.
