Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd is seeking a Weekend Kitchen Porter for our Perth, Scotland site. The role focuses on keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe and up to high standards, with duties including washing, cleaning and some basic food prep.

Experience in pot wash is advantageous, and candidates should be able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. The position is part-time with a 5-out-of-7 pattern in a boarding school setting.

Qualifications

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Organisation Skills.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with pot wash duties and kitchen cleaning.
• Help Chefs with basic food preparation tasks.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and surfaces.
• Operate the industrial dishwasher and related cleaning systems.

Job description

A co-educational independent boarding school in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, for children aged between 12 and 18 years. Catering for just under 400 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast, Lunch and Supper with some high end hospitality and summer lets as well. As this is a boarding school, it operates 7 days a week so working patterns would be 5 out of 7 days. There is free parking available at the school.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a WeekendKitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Perth.

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher

We are looking for:
