Job summary

Get Staffed Online Recruitment Limited's client is seeking a Weekend Chef to join a care-home catering team. The role covers Saturdays and Sundays, 8am–4pm, on a permanent basis, with a pay rate of £15.99 per hour.

You will prepare meals, follow Hygiene and Health & Safety standards, and support menu development. Ideal candidates have at least one year of Cook/Chef experience, strong food-safety knowledge, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
• Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare a wide range of dishes.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
• A passion for cooking and creating innovative meal options for customers.
• An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, or willingness to do this.
• Employment vetting, including references and full work history.
• Food Safety Level 2 or 3, with a willingness to be further trained.
• Professional and the ability to work with various backgrounds and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Assist in the development of new menu items, ensuring creativity and seasonal relevance.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
• Oversee kitchen operations, including inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and safety practices.
• Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation, ensuring consistency across all dishes.
• Assist with special events or catering services as required.
