Job summary

Thornford Park Hospital is seeking a Weekend Chef to join the hospital kitchen team. You will craft meals for service users, staff and visitors, supporting the Head Chef and contributing to menu development while ensuring high standards and dietary requirements are met.

The role offers opportunities to lead on meal planning, cost control and training peers, with a focus on safe food handling and HACCP compliance.

Qualifications

Experience in a similar environment is preferred.
Ability to plan and deliver meals for large groups.
Knowledge of cost control and menu development.

Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations.
Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation.
Plan and cook meals meeting dietary requirements and special requests.
Serve meals to service users, staff and visitors with professional service.
Prepare foods for conferences and banquets.
Contribute to food costings and budget control.
Adhere to Safer Food Better Business standards and HACCP documentation.
Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
Assist Head Chef by researching and creating new menus aligned with healthy eating guidelines.
Complete HACCP paperwork (fridge temps, temperature logs, cleaning schedules).
