Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Bierley is seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant to support weekend shifts (10 hours total: 5 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday) and help provide balanced meals to those in our care. You will work at the hospital's kitchens and contribute to a hygienic, well-organised service.

We welcome passionate individuals with catering experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks and other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes and ensure they are stored appropriately.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in line with procedures and COSHH rules.

We are looking for an outstanding Kitchen Assistant/Catering Assistant who's passionate about food and wants to make a difference. You'll be working 10 hours covering Weekends Only (5 Hours on a Saturday and 5 Hours on a Sunday) Cygnet Hospital Bierley, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. Cygnet Hospital Bierley provides a range of acute and low secure mental health services for men and women. The hospital is set across four wards offering single-sex male and female specialist mental health services. All our services are provided under the umbrella of a recovery orientated approach and are reviewed through the CPA framework.

Your Day-to-Day

• Assist the team in the providing balanced, appetising meals
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
• Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
