Job summary

Upper Medway IDB is seeking a Land Drainage Operative for maintenance of adopted watercourses across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. The role is based at the Paddock Wood depot with a 7:30 am start, Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week, and full training provided.

The successful candidate will operate powered and manual tools, ensure safety, and liaise with authorities as required. A full UK driving licence and the ability to work in all weather conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a full UK driving licence and be able to reach the depot by 7:30 am.
• Physically fit to perform practical field work in all weather.
• Ability to write and speak English for paperwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine field-based maintenance on adopted watercourses.
• Respond to emergency works outside normal hours when required.
• Keep vehicles and equipment in good working order and maintain logs.
