Job summary

BGEN Ltd in Staffordshire is seeking an automation engineer to design and deliver PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for water and wastewater assets. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from specification through commissioning, with a strong focus on safety, quality and operational performance.

Joining a collaborative team in the Midlands, you will engage with clients and contractors, travel to site as required, and contribute to continuous improvement through design reviews and testing.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing/implementing PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for water/wastewater assets.
• Ability to interpret client specifications and apply industry standards to develop compliant engineering solutions.
• Knowledge of QA processes, documentation standards, and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement PLC, HMI and SCADA solutions for water assets.
• Produce and review FDS, SDS, test docs, commissioning records and operation manuals.
• Configure/program control systems using Siemens and Rockwell platforms; perform FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
• Support QA processes to ensure work complies with procedures, standards and safety requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, audits and lessons-learned workshops for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and engineering teams to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget; provide troubleshooting and optimization.
