Job summary

CHG Electrical is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our MEICA delivery team in the Water/Wastewater sector. You will install, calibrate and maintain instrumentation across clean water and wastewater assets, including flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers, and telemetry systems.

You will diagnose faults, support PLC/SCADA interface checks, and collaborate with EICA Engineers and project teams to ensure safe, accurate handovers

Qualifications

• Proven instrumentation experience within water, wastewater or another process industry, combining strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of water treatment processes, WIMES-compliant instrumentation and telemetry systems.
• Experience with flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers or similar instrumentation.
• Good knowledge of calibration techniques, fault-finding and loop testing.
• Excellent practical problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work independently or within multi-skilled teams.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, calibrate and maintain instrumentation across clean water and wastewater assets.
• Work with flow meters, level sensors, pressure transmitters, turbidity and chlorine analysers and associated equipment.
• Complete loop checks, functional testing, inspections and verification activities.
• Identify and resolve faults across instrumentation, control systems and monitoring equipment.
• Support PLC and SCADA interface checks and control-system integration.
• Collaborate with EICA Engineers, Project Managers and commissioning teams throughout project delivery and site integration.
• Complete all work in line with RAMS, design specifications, WIMES and wider water-industry requirements.
• Maintain accurate calibration records, inspection logs and site reports.
• Work closely with clients, operators and internal teams to achieve high-quality handovers and smooth operational transitions.
• Champion CHG’s safety culture while ensuring tools, materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and ready for scheduled works.
