Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Design Manager in the Bristol area to lead the technical delivery of water and wastewater projects from feasibility through to asset management. You will coordinate with clients such as Wessex Water, South West Water, Welsh Water and Thames Water, guiding teams across design disciplines.

The role offers a hybrid working model, engaging with a diverse team dedicated to delivering innovative water solutions and high-quality outcomes for complex assets across the UK.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (ICE/CIWEM)
• Extensive water/wastewater engineering experience
• Experience leading technical delivery of projects
• Strong client and contractor relationship track record
• Commitment to quality assurance and mentorship
• Ability to support bids and proposals
• Experience in a water company or consultancy

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary technical delivery of water/wastewater infrastructure through the design lifecycle.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and stakeholders to develop technical solutions.
• Oversee key work packages from conception to handover with teams, clients and suppliers.
• Act as primary technical interface for clients and contractor partners.
• Mentor team members and consider line-management opportunities if desired.
