Job summary

AECOM seeks a Design Manager to lead the technical delivery of water and wastewater projects, guiding teams from feasibility through asset management. You will collaborate with clients such as water utilities, contractors and stakeholders to shape innovative solutions.

The role requires an engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status, and extensive water sector experience. Hybrid working options and opportunities for technical leadership, mentorship, and business development are available.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical).
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with ICE, CIWEM or similar.
Extensive experience in water or wastewater engineering (treatment schemes and/or network design).
Experience leading the technical delivery of projects with engineers and specialists.
Proven track record forming strong client/contractor relationships in the water sector.
Passion for quality, including QA reviews of deliverables.
Enthusiasm for technical mentorship and developing team members.
Ability to support bids and fee proposals.

Responsibilities

Lead multi-disciplinary technical delivery of water/wastewater projects through design lifecycle.
Collaborate with clients, contractors and stakeholders to develop technical solutions.
Manage key work packages from conception to handover with internal and external teams.
Act as the primary technical interface for clients and partners.
Mentor team members and support their development (optional line management).
