Job summary

Murphy in London is seeking a Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design delivery for water and wastewater projects from concept through construction and handover. You will manage design scope, programme, quality, interfaces and compliance, coordinating civil, process and MEICA outputs.

You will develop the design programme, review meetings, monitor progress and mentor engineers, while liaising with clients, suppliers and project teams to ensure timely, buildable deliverables.

Qualifications

• Level 8 honours degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental or process/ environmental engineering or related discipline.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design, preferably in water and wastewater.
• Strong knowledge of MEICA interfaces, construction requirements and commissioning activities.
• Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and designer responsibilities.
• Experience developing and maintaining design programmes, budgets and deliverables.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project and BIM/CDE platforms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design team within a collaborative, one-team culture and define responsibilities, deliverables and deadlines.
• Develop and maintain the design programme, MIDP, design responsibility matrix and information-delivery requirements.
• Coordinate civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation interfaces.
• Ensure designs comply with HSQE requirements and client standards.
• Facilitate design reviews and constructability reviews, recording and closing actions.
• Monitor design progress, quality, risks, and change control against programme and budget.
• Liaise with clients, designers, project teams, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Support procurement, tendering, construction and commissioning with timely design information.
• Promote Lean and digital-delivery practices and mentor engineers and designers.
