Job summary

Murphy is recruiting a Project Engineer to support our expanding Water & Wastewater portfolio, delivering design-to-operation solutions for key clients in the UK and Ireland. The role focuses on detailed technical delivery, optioneering and assurance across clean water, wastewater and sludge facilities.

The successful candidate will work within multi-disciplinary teams, driving regulatory compliance, safety and sustainability standards while contributing to innovation and digital delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process, or Environmental Engineering.
• 2–5 years post-graduate UK water industry experience on capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of water/wastewater processes and sludge treatment.
• Experience in design development, optioneering and assurance.
• CDM 2015 and health & safety understanding.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status with ICE/CIWEM/IMechE/IChemE/IET.
• Experience across AMP programmes with bioresources or sludge optimisation.
• Familiar with MEICA systems, process safety, modelling tools, BIM Level 2, digital engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise technical designs for water and wastewater projects.
• Lead technical optioneering, hydraulic and process modelling, and detailed engineering calculations.
• Provide high-level technical assurance and review of designs, specs, drawings, and submissions.
• Resolve complex technical queries during design, construction and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety.
