Job summary

City of Arlington's Water Utilities department seeks a candidate to assist in monitoring and operating the city’s treatment processes and distribution system. You will learn water treatment procedures, lab methods, and regulatory requirements while supporting operations.

The role involves working under supervision to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and operational goals. Candidates should have basic math, science coursework, and familiarity with PC software.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of basic water chemistry and biology, and advanced math.
• Skill in using PC Software including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skill in communicating professionally and tactfully with others by oral and written means.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Ability to work independently under general instructions.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring treatment processes and distribution to meet regulations and goals.
• Learn and apply water treatment processes, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Operate and coordinate treatment using plant computer systems and manual controls.
• Maintain instrument and information systems; calibrate and repair instrumentation; update databases.
• Follow safety procedures and use required PPE.
