Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Utility Line Technician for the Water Department/Field Operations. You will locate and repair water and sewer infrastructure, operate specialized equipment, and ensure 24/7 operations keep the city flowing and safe.

Responsibilities include locating utilities, conducting CCTV assessments, smoke testing, flow monitoring, and documenting all activities while delivering reliable service to residents and contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED certification.
• Two (2) years of water/sewer utilities experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain a TCEQ Water Distribution D license within twelve months of hire; To obtain this license, you must be able to pass a written test and criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and Repairing Water and Sewer Systems: Front-line work to ensure water and sewer systems run smoothly.
• CCTV Video Assessments: Conduct detailed inspections of the wastewater collection system to identify issues.
• Smoke Testing & Inspections: Perform smoke testing and manhole inspections to prevent problems.
• Flow Monitoring & Equipment Maintenance: Install, monitor, and maintain flow monitoring equipment for performance data.
• Customer Support & Troubleshooting: Assist residents, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Hands-on, Physical Work: Perform manual tasks involving pipes and infrastructure.
• Reporting & Documentation: Complete city-specific forms, surveys, and reports.
