Job summary

South East Water is seeking a chemistry graduate for a fixed-term 6-month role in its laboratories. You will support analysts, operate instrumentation, maintain equipment and ensure data accuracy in the Laboratory Information Management System.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, health and safety, and ongoing development of analytical skills within a busy team servicing local authorities, businesses and private clients.

Qualifications

• A degree in Chemistry or closely related subject.
• High attention to detail and precision in lab work.
• Strong numeracy and basic computer literacy.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Operate instrumentation in line with the Laboratory Management System.
• Maintain and operate preparatory equipment.
• Document information with daily logs and equipment records.
• Enter data accurately into the LIMS.
• Report quality issues to senior staff.
• Prepare reagents and QC checks as per procedures.
• Maintain good laboratory practice and housekeeping.
• Participate in internal audits to ensure compliance.
• Contribute to key chemistry tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate task prioritisation and flexibility to meet demand.
