Job summary

South East Water Limited is hiring for a 6-month fixed-term contract in our market leading laboratories focused on water testing services. The role supports analysts and involves applying your chemistry training to real-world samples and challenges.

You will operate instrumentation, assist with maintenance, and ensure data is accurately recorded and entered in the Laboratory Information Management System, while benefiting from coaching and opportunities to progress your analytical career.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or another closely related subject.
• Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and skills to engage in robust laboratory practice.
• A desire to learn and put into practice what you’ve learnt.
• Keen to take responsibility for personal and career development to progress to the next level.

Responsibilities

• Operate instrumentation in accordance with the Laboratory Management System.
• Maintain and operate preparatory equipment.
• Document information by keeping daily logs and equipment record books.
• Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
• Report quality issues to senior staff.
• Prepare reagents and AQCs per internal procedures.
• Maintain good laboratory practice and housekeeping.
• Participate in internal audits to ensure compliance with the management system.
• Contribute to key tasks within the chemistry section.
• Meet deadlines and service level agreements with consistent outputs.
• Prioritise tasks and adapt to meet demand.
• Plan and organise time, showing foresight to complete tasks.
