Job summary

Southern Water is recruiting a Water Production Controller for the Durrington Office to help keep water flowing for 1.2 million customers across the South East. You will join an evolving Operations Control Centre and work on a 6-week cycle of 12-hour shifts, averaging 28 hours per week, with day and night rotations and standby duties.

Starting salary £29,800 per year, with a 15% shift allowance and a rewards framework that can increase your base pay.

About the Role

We're transforming our Operational Control Centre and are looking for a Water Production Controller to join our diverse team. Controllers are the backbone of our water and wastewater services, ensuring a continuous supply of safe, high-quality drinking water to 1.2 million customers across a water-stressed region.

Shift Summary
  • Average Weekly Hours: 28 hours per week
  • Annual Leave: Built into your rotation
  • Shift Pattern:
  • 6-week cycle of 12-hour shifts
  • Includes day and night rotations:
  • 3 days on → 7 days off
  • 4 days on → 7 days off
  • 3 nights on → 7 days off
  • 4 nights on → 7 days off
  • Additional Duties: Some standby periods and extra cover may be required, which will be discussed during the interview.
Location Requirement

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Live within approximately one hour's commute of our Durrington office, or
  • Are willing to relocate if successful.
