Job summary

United Infrastructure in Washington is seeking a Water Service & Mains Laying Teams Operative to install mains and services to required standards. You will work safely on site, perform checks on vehicles and plant, and follow hygiene and environmental rules while supporting road works to Chapter 8 standards.

Applicants should hold Water Safety Passport (EUSR), National Water Hygiene (EUSR), NRSWA Units 1-3, CSCS, Cat & Genny, 360 and Dumper tickets, Butt and Electro Fusion skills, and First Aid.

Qualifications

• Water safety and site registration certificates.
• Water Hygiene registration and NRSWA qualifications.
• CSCS and site safety competencies.
• Pipe fusion techniques and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain health and safety on site.
• Carry out safety checks on vehicles, plant and sites.
• Follow health and hygiene rules and environmental guidelines.
• Install mains and services to required standards with proper jointing and hygiene.
• Operate and maintain road works to required standards.
• Assist public, clients and officials as needed.
• Keep safety, environmental and quality records up to date.

Purpose

To be responsible for the installation of mains and services to required standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain own and others health and safety
• Carry out safety checks and inspections to vehicles, plant, equipment and sites as instructed
• Follow health and hygiene rules
• Ensure that work is undertaken with due regard to the environment: prevent contamination to water supplies and water courses; maintain site cleanliness; prevent spills; minimise disturbance to members of the public; avoid damage to trees; dispose of waste only as authorised.
• Excavate holes using safe digging methods to avoid damage to underground utility apparatus
• Manhandle materials, plant and equipment
• Install pipes and fittings to the appropriate standards ensuring, in particular, that good jointing and hygiene practices are followed
• Drive Company vehicles with due regard to the Road Traffic Act and other road users for authorised business purposes
• Operate mobile plant for authorised business purposes
• Maintain site, vehicle, plant and equipment tidiness and security
• Install and maintain road works to ‘Chapter 8’ standard
• Assist members of the public, clients’ representatives and other officials in relation to Company business
• Maintain safety, environmental and quality records
• Report any accidents, near misses, faults, damages or defects using appropriate documentation
• Undertake any other reasonable instructions given by management or supervision
