Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is seeking a hands-on field operator to join our team for ongoing operation and maintenance of the underground water network. You will work to resolve leakage and network issues, minimising customer disruption while liaising with internal departments and partners.

The role requires a full driving licence and a solid customer-service background. The position is predominantly site-based with a company vehicle and standby rota after training.

Qualifications

• Experience of providing good customer service.
• Experience of working in a team to solve problems.
• Knowledge of the water industry.
• Able to communicate well, actively listen and respond to solve problems.
• Knows how to seek others’ opinions to understand different approaches to problem solving.
• Able to build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments, company partners and contractors.
• Able to work to tight deadlines, sometimes in difficult circumstances.
• Able to use Microsoft software packages and internal systems (GIS, PMAC, LIBRA, LMARS).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain Welsh Water’s underground water network.
• Help resolve network/leakage issues to maintain water supply and minimise customer disruption.
• Respond to customer and public queries, liaising with internal departments and partners.
• Achieve leakage targets using leakage reduction and detection techniques.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain personal safety.
• Organise workload with minimal supervision and prioritise tasks.
• Build relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support operational objectives.
• Support continuous improvement of network performance through inspections and investigations.
