Job summary

BJF Group is seeking a Handyman to join the Southeast Core facilities team in the UK. You will conduct scheduled flushing of infrequently used water outlets and follow Legionella control procedures to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include recording all flushing activities in logbooks or CAFM, measuring water temperatures, identifying defects, and maintaining audit-ready compliance records. A strong emphasis on safe working practices and collaboration with external contractors is

Qualifications

• L8 End User Qualification or equivalent.
• Relevant basic trade qualification in building services.
• Experience of planned preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled flushing of infrequently used water outlets, including taps, showers and related fixtures.
• Follow site-specific Legionella control procedures and flushing schedules.
• Record all flushing activities accurately using logbooks, compliance software or CAFM system.
• Measure and record water temperatures where required.
• Identify and report defects, leaks, unusual temperatures or other concerns affecting water hygiene.
• Maintain compliance records for audit and inspection purposes.
• Follow safe working practices and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Support Legionella risk control measures and cooperate with external water hygiene contractors.
• Escalate non-compliance issues to management.
• Carry out PPM duties as set out by supervisory staff.

Within our Facilities Management division, the Southeast Core team plays a crucial role in the day-to-day delivery of reactive and preventative works across a diverse range of properties and systems within our client's sites - as a Handyman To carry out routine flushing of infrequently used outlets and water systems in accordance with the organisation's Legionella management plan, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety Executive's Approved Code of Practice L8 and HSG274 guidance.

Position

• Conduct scheduled flushing of infrequently used water outlets, including taps, showers, and other water fixtures.
• Follow site-specific Legionella control procedures and flushing schedules.
• Record all flushing activities accurately using logbooks, compliance software, or electronic records. (CAFM system).
• Measure and record water temperatures where required.
• Identify and report any defects, leaks, poor water flow, unusual temperatures, or other concerns affecting water hygiene.
• Maintain compliance records for audit and inspection purposes.
• Follow safe working practices and organisational health and safety procedures at all times.
• Support Legionella risk control measures and cooperate with external water hygiene contractors where required.
• Escalate any non-compliance issues immediately to management.
• Carry out PPM duties as set out by supervisory staff.
