Job summary

WSP is seeking a Design Manager to lead design projects in the Water sector across the UK. You will collaborate with the Project Director and Project Manager to oversee engineering design work, ensure best-practice standards and regulatory compliance, and deliver complex programmes of work.

You will drive safe design practices, manage client relationships, and coordinate internal multi-disciplinary teams across offices, client sites, and on-site locations to achieve strategic outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in engineering or related numerate field.
• Professional institute membership or working towards Chartered status.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects and complex programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design management for mid-scale and complex projects from concept to completion.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Manage client relationships and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Lead client and project meetings and report progress and financials.
• Promote Safety by Design and CDM regulations adherence.
• Communicate clearly within internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead Design Team Meetings and document actions and outcomes.
• Improve design delivery processes and manage changes and risks.
• Handle RFIs, early warnings and project communications.
• Review quotations against scope, budget and client requirements.
• Coordinate multiple disciplines and delivery packages.

Education

MEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in Engineering/Environmental or numerate science
