Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead mid‑scale and complex design projects within the Water sector. You will work with the Project Director and Project Manager to oversee engineering design work, ensure compliance with UK regulations, and drive safe, design‑led solutions across multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers hybrid working across our UK offices, client sites, and offices, with opportunities for professional growth, chartership support, and engagement

Qualifications

• MEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in Engineering or related subject
• Professional institute membership (Chartered or working towards)
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects
• Experience in project and contract management including H&S standards

Responsibilities

• Lead design management for mid-scale and complex projects from concept through to completion
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality standards compliance
• Manage client relationships and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Lead client and project meetings; report progress and financials
• Drive Safety by Design and ensure compliance with UK CDM Regulations
• Coordinate design team meetings and maintain concise minutes
• Communicate across internal and external stakeholders to support delivery
• Manage changes and delays to keep projects on track
