Job summary

FARER in the United Kingdom is seeking a Watch Technician to join our dynamic workshop in Warfield. You will inspect, service, and prepare watches to the highest standards before dispatch.

Working with the Senior Watchmaker and Operations Team, you will dismantle and reassemble movements, test timing, and ensure waterproof integrity, while developing efficient repair processes. You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to precision, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Partial repairs require a watchmaking apprenticeship or basic qualification (e.g., TAFE watch repair).
  • Complete repairs require a recognised watchmaking apprenticeship.
  • Specialist repairs require advanced movement knowledge or post-apprenticeship (WOSTEP).
  • Demonstrates teamwork, communication and a commitment to high quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Service, test, and prepare watches to the required standard.
  • Assemble case components and perform waterproof testing.
  • Dismantle, diagnose, repair or replace movement parts.
  • Clean movement parts and reassemble, perform timing checks.
  • Develop or adapt tools and processes to fix issues encountered.
  • Collaborate with the team to keep the workshop running smoothly.
  • Maintain tools and order consumables.
  • Conduct final quality control before dispatch.
  • Attend UK and international watch shows as required.

Job Description

As a Watch Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and preparing watches to ensure they meet our quality standards before being dispatched to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all watches are serviced, tested, and prepared as required.
  • Assemble all watch case components and carry out waterproof testing to ensure each case meets the required specifications.
  • Carry out complete movement servicing, including:
  • Dismantling the movement.
  • Diagnosing faults.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged components.
  • Cleaning all movement parts.
  • Reassembling the movement.
  • Performing timing (rate) checks and final adjustments.
  • Analyse movement faults and determine the most effective repair methodology.
  • Develop or adapt tools and processes where necessary to resolve technical issues encountered during repairs.
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the workshop.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and tools, and manage the ordering of consumables and parts as required.
  • Carry out final quality control inspections to ensure all required work has been completed and each watch is fully functional, accurately regulated, and ready for dispatch.
  • Attend occasional UK and international watch shows and industry events as required.
About the Role

We are looking for a Watch Technician who enjoys working as part of a dynamic team and has a passion for quality watch repair. The role involves supporting the complete repair process, from servicing watch movements to preparing, assembling, and casing watches ready for dispatch to customers.

You will work closely with our Senior Watchmaker and Operations Team to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. The Watch Technician will report to the Operations Team and support the smooth running of the repair journey.

Professional Requirements
  • For partial repairs, completion of a watchmaking apprenticeship or a recognised basic watch repair qualification, such as a TAFE Watch Repair course or equivalent.
  • For complete repairs, successful completion of a recognised watchmaking apprenticeship.
  • For specialist repairs, advanced knowledge of complicated movements or successful completion of a recognised post-apprenticeship qualification, such as WOSTEP (Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program).
  • A positive team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and striving for excellence.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
