Job summary

Laings, a historic family-run jewellery business, invites applications for a Watch Production Assistant to ensure smooth watch service workflows and support to Watchmakers and showrooms. You will manage repairs, orders, and materials scheduling, while upholding Laings brand standards.

In this role you will liaise with internal teams and external partners, maintain accurate records, and contribute to efficient service delivery across our workshops and stores.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and update the repairs ledger and manage communications for watch service work.
  • Manage watch service orders, invoices and tracking details.
  • Schedule and route watch service work to Watchmakers and external workshops as needed.
  • Update watch production and materials schedules and service records.
  • Ensure stock of new materials and process spare parts orders and stock takes.
  • Coordinate with showroom teams and service advisors to support the service journey.

A Career as Unique as You Are

The Watch Production Assistant is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all watch service workflows. Continuously looking for opportunities to enhance Laings service, providing support to our Watchmakers and showrooms, and proactively following through on material-related activities.

Our Services team assist 37.50 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.

Here is How We Envision Your Role:
  • Monitor and update the repairs ledger with all necessary updates, managing internal and external communication for all watch service work.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing watch service orders, updating the system with relevant invoices and tracking details.
  • Direct, schedule, and track all watch service work for Watchmakers in line with internal workshop capacity, and direct to external workshops where necessary.
  • Update and manage watch production and materials schedule for internal service work, communicating changes to the Service Advisors as needed.
  • Process Repairs and manage service records on internal systems.
  • Maintain stringent quality control, upholding all Laings brand standards.
  • Source costings, update internal systems with relevant information, and prepare watch estimates from workshops for client delivery.
  • Ensure new materials are stocked appropriately and issued promptly to stores and watchmakers.
  • Order spare parts for upcoming service orders and replenish stock
  • Process and place all spare part orders for the Laings Service Centre, Watchmakers and stores.
  • Complete spare parts stocktakes and internal service status audits, investigating any discrepancies.
  • Spare parts allocation and distribution for all internal watch service orders.
  • Source information and costings for store watch materials enquiries, placing orders where necessary, all promptly.
  • Ensure delivery notes are matched accurately to materials invoices, resolve any disputed invoicing issues, and process credit notes and debit notes.
  • Responsibility for material stock holding in Head office and satellite workshops, ensuring this matches the system.
  • Work through our internal and external training programmes to widen knowledge and pursue personal development.
  • Liaise confidently with showroom teams, internal departments and external partners, providing support via email, telephone and online platforms.
  • Work closely with our Watchmakers and Service teams, providing support with production and materials-related queries.
  • Ensure timely delivery across the service journey using tools available and investigative skills
