Job summary

Fears Watch Company Limited is seeking a committed Watch Assembly Technician for the Bristol head office. You will join the Operations Department to assemble watches, prepare build kits, manage component stock, and perform quality control.

The role reports to the Operations Manager with a 40-hour week, Monday–Friday, starting late-August with flexible commencement. The ideal candidate has experience assembling and exchanging movements on luxury watches, strong attention to detail and dexterity,

Qualifications

  • Experience as an Assembly Watchmaker or Repair Technician working on luxury watches is essential.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and high dexterity for handling small components.
  • Must be highly organised, self-motivated and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and efficient assembly of Fears watches to quality standards.
  • Compile build-kits of components and record stock transfers accurately.
  • Ensure smooth assembly according to schedule and maintain a tidy workshop.
  • Perform quality checks on components and finished watches; limit QC failures to 1%.
  • Test components, regulate movements and check water resistance; maintain inventory.
  • Communicate any quality concerns or delays to the Operations Team.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a committed and passionate Watch Assembly Technician with an eye for quality to join Fears as part of the Operations Department. This role reports to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for assembling our watches. Other responsibilities include assisting with the running and maintaining of our workshop, build kit preparation, component stock management and quality control.

Fears is a fast-paced and dynamic company where every day poses new challenges, the ideal candidate must be equally matched to this working environment which at times can be demanding but also hugely rewarding.

Specific to this role:

  • Location: Bristol, Fears Head Office.
  • Hours: Monday – Friday: 9am – 6pm (40 hours per week)
  • Report: Operations Manager
  • Commencing: Late-August onwards (commencement flexible)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Responsible for;

  • Timely and efficient assembly of Fears watches in line with Fears quality standards.
  • Compile build-kits of components, ensuring stock transfers are accurately recorded during the process.
  • Ensure smooth and time-efficient assembly of all watches in line with assembly schedule.
  • Ensuring the workshop environment is clean and tidy, and tools and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Quality control individual components prior to assembly as well as final quality control once assembled. Ensure QC failure rate is minimised and does not exceed 1%.
  • Carry out testing of components including time testing movements and case water resistance testing.
  • Carry out final regulation of watches to match movement specifications.
  • Promoting customer satisfaction by maintaining aftersales return rate (less than 1%).
  • Ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining clear communication to wider Operations Team, ensuring any quality concerns or delays to workflow are highlighted.
  • Monitoring inventory of spare parts and consumables, communicating any requirements to Operations Assistant.
  • The maintenance of accurate stock records and the recording of stock transfers during assembly and servicing of watches.

In this role you’ll report to the Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have relevant assembly experience and a high-level of competency assembling and carrying out movement exchanges on a range of mechanical and quartz watches. The successful candidate will require impeccable attention to detail, be highly organised and self-motivated.

Key to maintaining Fears’ quality standards and outstanding customer experience, the candidate will have exceptional attention to detail and a high level of dexterity and focus to handle small components.

Previous Job Experience:

  • Experience as an Assembly Watchmaker or Repair Technician working on luxury watches is essential.

Educational:

  • WOSTEP / BHI diploma or certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Interest in watches and how they work.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • A team player.
  • Strong interest in continuing to develop skills.
  • Highly organised.
  • Flexibility and adaptable to change.
  • Motivated, proactive and dedicated.
SALARY AND BENEFITS

Holiday:

  • Holiday allowance: 20 days per year + public holidays.
  • In addition: between Christmas and the New Year the company’s head office is closed and these days (usually 3-4) are in addition to your holiday allowance.
  • Birthday may be taken as an additional day off (this is in addition to your holiday allowance)
  • Company pension with 5% contribution from Fears
  • Ability to purchase a watch at wholesale price + VAT (after 1 year of employment)
  • £28-36k per annum depending on experience.
