Job summary

Stonegate Farmers Ltd in Lacock, Wiltshire, is seeking an Effluent Treatment Plant Operator to monitor and optimise our wastewater treatment processes. You will operate, inspect, and maintain the plant, interpret readings, collect samples, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Working 4on4off, days and nights (06:00–18:00 and 18:00–06:00), you will respond to alarms, coordinate with contractors, keep accurate records, and contribute to health, safety and environmental standards onsite.

Qualifications

• Experience operating wastewater, effluent, utilities or process treatment equipment is desirable.
• Understanding of environmental compliance and wastewater treatment processes is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret readings, collect samples, and maintain accurate records.
• Good problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to investigating issues.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence working with pumps, valves, and treatment equipment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the effluent treatment plant to ensure optimal performance and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Carry out routine inspections, sampling, testing, and recording of process data.
• Monitor chemical dosing systems and adjust treatment processes as required.
• Respond promptly to alarms, process deviations, and equipment failures to minimise environmental risk.
• Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping activities within the treatment plant area.
• Liaise with external contractors and regulatory bodies when required.
• Maintain accurate records of plant performance, sampling results, and compliance documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, sustainability, and environmental performance.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and food production standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues across utilities and wastewater treatment systems.
