Job summary

ABM UK is seeking a Plant Operator to operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems at Belfast sites. The role covers routine checks, calibration, and safe chemical handling within COSHH controls.

You will contribute to process reliability and environmental compliance, working a 39-hour week on a 3-month contract. Ideal candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification in water/wastewater or related field, be IT proficient, numerate and able to communicate clearly.

Qualifications

• Relevant Level 3 technical qualification in water/wastewater treatment, environmental operations, science or engineering.
• Practical understanding of safe plant operation, chemical handling and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor effluent/wastewater treatment plant according to site procedures.
• Carry out routine checks, record readings and monitor chemical stock levels.
• Maintain deionised water systems and support safe chemical additions within limits.
• Respond to alarms and escalate issues as required.
• Provide clear handover to the Wastewater Manager with status and actions.
