Job summary

Northumbrian Water is seeking a Wastewater Production Operator at Stressholme, Darlington, for a six-month contract starting in early October. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, based at Stressholme and involves safe operation of wastewater treatment works under regulatory and environmental standards.

You will operate site assets, optimise chemicals and energy use, and carry out basic analysis and monitoring while following procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain works assets in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Optimise the use of plant assets, including chemicals, energy, and other resources, to achieve efficient operations.
• Carry out basic effluent and mixed liquor analysis, interpret results, and implement operational changes as required.
• Effectively use and interrogate the SCADA system to fault-find, monitor performance, and optimise plant utilisation.
• Perform basic instrument calibration in line with procedures.
• Undertake basic fault finding on plant and equipment and elevate issues where necessary.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by line management in line with operational requirements.

Based in Darlington, this full-time, temporary Wastewater Production Operator position with Pertemps Newcastle runs for six months from early October. Working Monday to Friday at the Stressholme facility, you will join Northumbrian Water’s frontline team. The role focuses on the safe, efficient running of wastewater treatment works, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental protection.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining site assets, and optimising chemical, energy, and other resources for cost-effective performance. Basic maintenance and monitoring tasks form part of the daily routine.
