Job summary

ABM is seeking a Wastewater Plant Operator in Belfast to join our facilities team on a full-time 39-hour week contract. You will operate and monitor the wastewater plant, perform routine checks, record readings and respond to alarms in a safe, compliant manner.

You will maintain water systems, handle chemicals safely and support maintenance teams. A Level 3 technical qualification in water/wastewater or equivalent, plus a UK driving licence, are required, with opportunities for ongoing training

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include a Level 3 technical qualification in water/wastewater or equivalent experience.
• Good numeracy and attention to detail; ability to record process readings and identify abnormal conditions.
• IT literate and able to use standard Microsoft applications and reporting systems.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between Belfast sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the effluent/wastewater treatment plant in accordance with site procedures and operating parameters.
• Carry out routine plant checks, record readings, monitor tank levels and chemical stock levels; identify abnormal trends.
• Maintain deionised water systems and support controlled chemical additions where safe and authorised.
• Respond to alarms and escalations, ensure safe plant conditions, and support maintenance teams as required.
• Provide clear handovers and maintain traceable records of results and actions.
