Job summary

Network Plus is seeking a Wastewater Designer in Worsley to join our design team, supporting Northumbrian Water and other UK utilities. You’ll produce high-quality wastewater designs and help deliver cost-effective infrastructure while maintaining safety and compliance.

You will work across all design phases, collaborate with internal and external teams, and contribute to a diverse project portfolio. The role emphasizes technical excellence, teamwork, and mentorship of junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualifications desirable but good experience would be considered.
• Experience of working in the water industry on wastewater projects.
• Proven experience in wastewater, CSOs, stormwater management, and wastewater networks.
• Understanding and knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications that apply to the water industry.
• Knowledge and awareness of CDM 2015.
• Proficient user of AutoCAD.
• Competent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to organise your workload across multiple projects.
• Willingness to mentor and support less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor leading industry practices, recommend new design approaches, and identify upcoming trends.
• Develop high-quality concepts, work with the team on iterations and design, and seek feedback from stakeholders.
• Work on all design phases of projects, including set-up, programming, design and construction administration.
• Collaborate with internal and client design teams and external consultants to execute projects.
• Provide technical design support to the design team.
• Respond to and resolve issues with clients, third parties and sub-contractors.
• Represent the company and arrange pre-design and walk-off meetings with the client.
• Undertake site investigation reports and complete CDM documentation.
• Ensure CDM 2015 compliance throughout the design process.
• Produce and update H&S files and create detailed design and as-laid drawings using AutoCAD.
• Produce plan and longitudinal drawings meeting client design specifications.
• Create private land notice plans per client processes and specifications.
• Liaise with the client to ensure site activities run to plan with updates to the Project Manager.
• Collaborate with PM/Operations/Design Manager to keep schemes within budget and schedule.
