Job summary

Lanes Group is recruiting for a Carlisle-based role working from Carlisle WWTW alongside United Utilities Customer Support Technician. You will join the Bucket 1 reactive contract, tackling sewer network problems on a shift basis (8am–6pm front, 12pm–10pm back) with weekends and bank holidays.

HGV Class 2 is desirable; Overtime paid at time and a half. The position offers a base salary of £34,269-£38,542 per annum, 42.5 hours per week, and focuses on CCTV, jetting and sewer investigations with

Qualifications

  • HGV Class 2 licence is desirable.
  • NRSWA Sign, Lighting, Guarding knowledge is expected.
  • Experience with high pressure water jetting is preferred.
  • Competence in confined spaces and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • You will work with UU Operatives to clean, camera and inspect sewers as directed.
  • Inform customers about works and timescales and answer concerns.
  • Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks or damage.
  • Carry out high pressure water jetting and CCTV inspections when required.
  • Use laptop/tablet for data entry and ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on jetting equipment.

Department:

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.

United Utilities operates across a number of contracts across our business, predominantly wastewater network services as part of the AMP 7 period plan.
The Team support reactive and planned maintenance across the CCTV & Jetting and Civils teams, further supported by our in house Traffic Management Division and Capital Projects covering the entire UU network.

Purpose of the role:

The role available will be working from the Carlisle WWTW alongside a United Utilities Customer Support Technician, where you will be required to work on the Bucket 1 reactive contract solving problems on the sewer network. This role will be on a shift-based pattern with working times of 8am to 6pm front shift and 12pm to 10pm back shift.Weekends and Bank Holidays are included.

HGV Class 2 desirable however not essential as training can be provided.

Location: Carlisle

Hours:42.5 hours per week

Salary:£34,269-£38,542 per annum base salary (depending on experience)

Overtime rates:For weekday, weekend and Bank Holiday work paid at time and a half

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will be working closely with a CST (UU Operative) to clean, camera and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities.
  • Attending to customers, informing them of works to be carried out and answering any concerns as well as timescales
  • Inspect and investigate drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could cause impact to customers and network.
  • Carry out all aspects of high pressure water jetting
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
  • Carry out CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Competent in using an electronic device - laptop / tablet for data entry purposes
  • Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
