Job summary

Lanes Group, via Sapphire Utility Solutions, operates in Rochdale and across the United Utilities network, providing sewer maintenance services including CCTV inspections, jetting and blockages clearance. You will join a team on reactive contracts, working closely with UU Operatives and handling customer communications.

The role is shift-based, 42.5 hours per week over a 27-week rota, with 8am–6pm front shifts and 12pm–10pm back shifts; weekends and Bank Holidays included.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (C) license is required.
• Desirable NRSWA certification (Sign, Lighting, Guarding).
• Experience with high-pressure water jetting and CCTV is advantageous.
• Knowledge of confined space procedures (Medium Risk).
• First Aid at Work certification is preferred.
• Manual handling and safe lifting awareness.
• EUSR Water Hygiene card is advantageous.
• CPC certification is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a UU CST to clean, camera and investigate sewers as directed.
• Inform customers about works, timescales and any disruptions.
• Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks or damage.
• Carry out high-pressure water jetting operations and cleaning.
• Perform CCTV inspections where required.
• Use a laptop/tablet for data entry and reporting.
• Raise safety issues per company procedures and standards.
• Maintain and service jetting equipment to ensure it operates correctly.

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.

United Utilities

operates across a number of contracts across our business, predominantly wastewater network services as part of the AMP 7 period plan. The Team support reactive and planned maintenance across the CCTV & Jetting and Civils teams, further supported by our in house Traffic Management Division and Capital Projects covering the entire UU network.

Purpose of the role:

The role available will be working from the Rochdale WWTW alongside a United Utilities Customer Support Technician, where you will be required to work on the Bucket 1 reactive contract solving problems on the sewer network. This role will be on a shift-based pattern with working times of 8am to 6pm front shift and 12pm to 10pm back shift. Weekends and Bank Holidays are included.

Hours:

42.5 hours per week (based on a 27 week rota)

Salary:

£34,269-£38,542 per annum base salary (depending on experience)

Overtime rates:

For weekday, weekend and Bank Holiday work paid at time and a half

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be working closely with a CST (UU Operative) to clean, camera and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities.
• Attending to customers, informing them of works to be carried out and answering any concerns as well as timescales
• Inspect and investigate drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could cause impact to customers and network.
• Carry out all aspects of high pressure water jetting
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
• Carry out CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Competent in using an electronic device - laptop / tablet for data entry purposes
• Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
