Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking a Waste Transfer operative to manage reception, movement, processing and storage of waste streams across on-site facilities. The role requires flexibility to cover a 6am–6pm shift pattern and the ability to operate a telehandler.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of waste management legislation and waste operations.
• Knowledge of legislation relating to the use of work equipment and health and safety legislation.
• Telehandler licence (desirable) or training will be provided.
• Good knowledge of maths and English.
• Driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Provide an effective Waste Transfer service covering reception, identification, movement, processing and storage of waste streams.
• Ensure waste management on site complies with planning permission, Environmental Permit and HSEMS.
• Shift pattern flexible between 6am–6pm.
• Drive a telehandler as part of the role.
