Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking an Operative for Recycling and Waste to join our frontline team and help deliver efficient waste services across the city. You will perform daily collections in Domestic, Recycling and Food Waste streams with a focus on safety and timely performance.

Working Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2:00pm, you will operate with manual and mechanical methods, handle items safely, and contribute to high service standards year-round.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the UK will be verified in the final stages of the selection process.
• Candidates must either already have a right to work in the UK or meet Home Office criteria for visa sponsorship.
• Sponsorship eligibility should be evaluated for a Skilled Worker visa before applying.

Responsibilities

• Join our team as an Operative to support the effective delivery of Liverpool's frontline waste services such as Domestic, Recycling and Food Waste.
• Carry out safe, timely and efficient waste collections using a full range of manual and mechanical methods of operation, working closely with colleagues to ensure high service standards are maintained across the city.
• Present items for collection to the vehicle using appropriate tools and safe manual handling methods and where appropriate safely operate the vehicle mechanism for loading and emptying and return waste receptacles to place of origin once emptied.
• Carry out multiple collections each day ensuring collections are completed in line with targets.
• Work in an outdoor environment all year round.
• This role includes repetitive tasks and includes walking for long periods of time.
• Working Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2:00pm.
• This role attracts an Irregular Hours Allowance of £663.62 per annum.
