Job summary

Hull City Council is seeking a Development Support Officer to help shape future recycling and waste services. You will work with the Policy & Partnership Manager and Recycling Team Leader on research, data analysis, project delivery, and fieldwork to improve services across Hull.

Ideal candidates will have a degree or equivalent experience, project management skills, and strong communication abilities. The role includes coordinating contractors and engaging with communities to deliver better

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
• Project management experience or qualification
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Full UK driving licence
• A passion for environmental sustainability and service improvement

Responsibilities

• Support the development of recycling and waste strategies and projects
• Research best practice, legislation, and emerging environmental policies
• Analyse data and provide evidence-based recommendations
• Coordinate contractors and support the rollout of new recycling schemes
• Undertake participation monitoring and waste composition surveys
• Engage with residents, stakeholders, and partner organisations
• Assist with consultations, reports, and service improvement initiatives
