Job summary

Westminster City Council is seeking a Project Officer (Waste and Recycling) to oversee contracted services and manage multiple projects within a busy London environment. You will ensure safe, efficient waste and recycling collections for residents, reporting to the Waste & Recycling Manager (Operations).

This role offers flexible hours (part-time, job-share or full-time) within a permanent contract and is based at Westminster City Hall in central London.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting or managing projects and programmes in the Public Sector.
• Familiar with recycling and waste management settings.
• Knowledge of Resources and Waste Strategy (2018) and Simpler Recycling guidance.
• Experience with supplier/contract monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Support management of multiple contracted services and related projects.
• Monitor, audit and report quality of work by Recycling and Waste Services Contractors.
• Carry out project work to support operational initiatives and improvements.
• Apply project management methodologies including plans, governance, dependencies and reporting.
• Site visits, inspections and meetings with managing agents, housing providers, porters and concierges.
• Produce reports for government departments and local authorities.
