Job Description Summary

This is a Full Time Permanent Position Interviews will take place week commencing 5 October 2026 Waste Operations Officer Make a difference to one of the city's important frontline services We are looking for an experienced and motivated Waste Operations Officer to join our Waste Management Service, working predominantly Tuesday – Friday although there may be times when you will be required to work Mondays & occasional Saturdays. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of waste collection services across the city, ensuring residents and businesses receive a safe, efficient and customer-focused service. Working within a fast-paced operational environment, you will lead a team of supervisors and operational staff while helping to shape the future of waste collection services through innovation, performance improvement and service transformation.

About the Role

As a Waste Operations Officer, you will be responsible for leading and developing operational teams to deliver high-quality waste collection services and ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities as a Waste Collection Authority. You will take responsibility for key service themes including:

  • Health and Safety
  • Fleet and Equipment
  • Human Resources
  • Customer Service
  • Collection Arrangements
  • Performance Management
  • Recycling and Resource Utilisation

You will work closely with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for service improvement, manage operational performance and support the implementation of new initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Grades: GRADES 9. Pay Ranges: £39,862.00 - £42,839.00

Job Classifications: 3- Not Politically Restricted - Designated As Not Politically Sensitive (Politically Restricted Posts), Casual - (Travel Allowance Policy), No - (Childcare Disqualification Requirement), No - (Statutory Post)
