Job summary

Total Waste Recruitment is seeking an ambitious Operations Director for a growing UK waste and recycling business. You will own day-to-day operations, align with board governance, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive M&A integration where applicable.

Based in Northamptonshire/Cambridgeshire, the role offers £70-80k plus bonus and equity. You will lead performance across collections, fleets, compliance and cost control while supporting business growth into strategic markets.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience in waste/ recycling operations.
• Strong focus on P&L, budgeting and cost control.
• Experience managing fleets, routes and driver scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Lead collections, route optimisation, driver scheduling, fleet utilisation, maintenance and transport compliance.
• Manage MRF, EfW and processor relationships, gate fees, contracts and disposal economics.
• Own EA, Duty of Care, WTN, H&S, Fire Prevention and permit compliance.
• Improve route profitability, margins and fleet efficiency while controlling overheads.
• Support the commercial team in winning and retaining high-volume industrial accounts.
