Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a highly motivated waste data and compliance professional to lead on a range of data and regulatory projects, including EPR and Digital Waste Tracking. The role focuses on establishing robust data collection and monitoring to report disposal costs and performance.

You will work with the Neighbourhood Services Team and external contractors, oversee data interpretation and FOI requests, and support hybrid working with on-site Cowley Road Depot presence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science/Management, Waste & Resource Management, Data Analytics or Engineering.
• CIWM Grad/MCIWM or WAMITAB qualification relevant to municipal waste operations.
• Holder of a valid UK driving license.
• Working knowledge of EPR, DRS and Digital Waste Tracking reporting.
• Project management qualification (PRINCE2 Foundation/AgilePM) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support bringing experience of managing, reporting and interpretation of waste data.
• Act as a waste contamination champion by monitoring the PFI Contract waste rejection and sampling process for recycling materials.
• Work with the wider Neighbourhood Services Team and PFI operational contractors Suez to reduce contamination found in recycling currently costing the Council in excess of £1m per year.
• Support our operational colleagues to understand and report on the profitability of trade waste services.
• Lead on handling Freedom of Information (FOI) requests for the team.
