Job summary

City of Kingston is seeking a Waste Operations Worker to drive and operate recycling, organics and garbage vehicles, perform leaf and brush collections, and ensure safe, efficient waste handling.

You will meet a High School diploma requirement, 2 years’ experience, and hold a DZ license with a clean abstract; preference for experience as a driver labourer in waste collection. Pre-trip inspection tests apply, and the role supports a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience driving and operating commercial vehicles and performing labour intensive duties.
• Possess and maintain a valid DZ License, with a satisfactory driver’s abstract of no more than 3 demerit points.
• Preference given to candidates with experience as a driver labourer in the waste collection industry.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate, recycling, organic and garbage vehicles
• Collect, load and unload, leaf, brush, garbage, organics and recyclables
• Check, lubricate, refuel and clean equipment and report any malfunctions to the Supervisor
• Work in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any deficiencies, unsafe situations or conditions to the Supervisor
• Work in the spirit of team participation
• Perform varied tasks and duties within the Solid Waste Division as required
