Job summary

gatesolutions in Edinburgh is seeking a Warehouse Team Leader for the LNER contract. You will support the Service Centre Manager to deliver safe, efficient, cost-effective services and ensure customer requirements are met within your remit.

The role offers 5 on 3 off shifts (06:00-15:39 and 12:39-22:18), in-house training, complimentary meals and beverages, free uniform, pension and extensive staff support. Strong English and numeracy are essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent education is required.
• Experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Warehousing experience preferred in food manufacturing, picking/packing, catering or logistics.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring working practices comply with company Food Safety principles.
• Adopting safe working practices per Health & Safety guidelines and policies.
• Guardian of product quality through storage and condition management.
• Conducting site H&S checks, Risk & COSHH assessments, and fire marshal duties.
• Providing leadership to the team and modelling positive behaviour.
• Monitoring performance to meet production goals.
• Daily team briefings and staff meetings on practices and reviews.
• Reporting issues to the Service Centre Manager or Deputy.
• Stock control, stocking and de-stocking accuracy, and area cleanliness.
• Responding to emergencies and ensuring contract-related processes are followed.
• Coaching staff and training new team members.
• Looking after colleague welfare and attendance standards.

As the Warehouse Team Leader for the LNER contract at our Edinburgh Service Centre, you will support the Service Centre Manager in managing and delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective services encompassing all areas of the operation. Consistently providing first-class service to the customer's requirements according to the contract within the allotted areas of responsibility and functions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring working practices comply with company Food Safety principles.
• Adopting safe working practices in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines and company policies and procedures in all areas.
• Guardian of product quality through storage and condition management.
• Responsible for conducting site H&S checks, Risk & COSHH assessments, and fire marshal duties.
• Providing leadership to the team, always acting as a positive role model.
• Monitoring team performance and ensuring duties are performed efficiently to meet production goals.
• Conducting daily team briefings and meetings with staff, covering working practices and reviews.
• Reporting any issues that arise during the shift to the Service Centre Manager or their Deputy.
• Maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy concerning stocking and de-stocking of trains, ensuring that quality targets are achieved.
• Responsible for ensuring that stock control processes are effectively managed and followed.
• Responsible for ensuring that the work area is kept clean and well-organised.
• Responding quickly and practically to emergencies, crises, or unexpected problems during the shift.
• Ensuring that working processes are followed in line with the contract specification and requirements.
• Assuming shift responsibility for disciplinary investigations and absence monitoring.
• Coaching team members and training new staff.
• Looking after colleague welfare and improving attendance standards.
• Ensuring that own and employee's behaviour and conduct meet the requirements of the business.

Education:

• Educated to a minimum of GCSE Level

Work Experience:

• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment leading a team
• Previous Warehousing experience ideally within food manufacturing / picking and packing / catering or logistics)
• Minimum of 2 years relevant operational experience.

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

• Food hygiene, security, H&S experience/qualification preferred.
• Awareness of Dangerous Goods Handling and aviation security
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel desirable
• Proactive and flexible attitude
• Sound analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
