Responsibilities

• Oversee workshop inspection, servicing, and repair of hire equipment and ensure readiness for next customer.
• Supervise and motivate workshop and warehouse personnel; allocate workloads and drive performance.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and oversee goods-in/goods-out processes; perform stock checks and audits.
• Promote safety, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and uphold housekeeping standards.

Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience, hourly pay rate while temping

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Our client, a leading specialist hire business in the construction, industrial is seeking a dynamic and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to oversee workshop and warehouse operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a tool hire professional who possesses strong technical knowledge along with proven leadership skills.

The Role

As the Warehouse Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all hire equipment is maintained to the highest standards while driving operational efficiency, safety, and customer service excellence. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Management

• Oversee the inspection, testing, servicing, and repair of hire equipment.
• Ensure all equipment returned from hire is checked and prepared for the next customer.
• Monitor workshop productivity and allocate workloads effectively.
• Support fault diagnosis and complex repair activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and motivate workshop and warehouse personnel.
• Manage daily workloads and prioritise tasks to meet operational demands.
• Coach, mentor, and train team members to enhance performance and technical capabilities.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and identify development opportunities.
• Foster a positive, safety-focused team culture.

Warehouse & Stock Control

• Maintain accurate stock levels of tools, spare parts, consumables, and accessories.
• Oversee goods-in and goods-out processes.
• Perform regular stock checks and inventory audits.
• Minimise stock losses and identify process improvements.
• Ensure safe and efficient storage of equipment and inventory.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain housekeeping standards across all operational areas.
• Ensure equipment meets manufacturer specifications and relevant industry standards.
• Promote safe working practises and lead safety initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience within tool hire, plant hire, equipment hire, construction, or related industries.
• Strong hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing tools or hire equipment.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Proven ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
• Strong stock control and inventory management experience.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT and administrative skills.

Desirable

• Mechanical or engineering qualification.
• PAT Testing qualification or electrical testing experience.
• Experience with hire management systems.
• Knowledge of generators, pumps, power tools, small plant, or construction equipment.
