Job summary

Lindab Ltd in Basildon, United Kingdom, seeks a Warehouse Operative, Relief Driver to support the Branch Manager and achieve KPI targets. This role is mainly warehouse-based, with driving duties during periods of annual leave, sickness, or training.

Your day-to-day includes receiving goods, picking/packing orders, stocking, and operating warehouse equipment with Health & Safety in mind. When required, you will perform multi-drop deliveries using a 7.5/10/12 tonne vehicle across the local area.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, logistics or similar operational environment.
• Hands-on goods receiving, order picking, packing, dispatch and stock control.
• Valid licence to drive 7.5/10/12 tonne vehicle.

Responsibilities

Job description

Take on the role of Warehouse Operative, Relief Driver and report to our Branch Manager, supporting KPI achievement across the team. This is primarily a warehouse-based role, with driving responsibilities undertaken as required to provide cover during periods of annual leave, sickness absence, training and other business needs.

Your primary tasks will be:

• Receiving, checking and processing goods in and out of the warehouse, ensuring quantity and quality are accurate and in line with company procedures.
• Preparing customer and site orders by picking, packing and dispatching items safely, efficiently and accurately.
• Maintaining stock accuracy through correct storage, stock rotation and participation in stock counts.
• Operating warehouse equipment, including pallet trucks and forklifts where trained, whilst following all Health & Safety procedures.
• Supporting trade counter activities when required, including assisting customers, processing orders and handling enquiries professionally.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised warehouse environment by managing waste correctly and completing required safety checks.
• Supporting colleagues across the branch to ensure excellent customer service and efficient day-to-day operations.

When requested by your Line Manager to provide operational cover for annual leave, sickness absence, training or other business requirements, you will:

• Carry out multi-drop deliveries using a [7.5 / 10 / 12 tonne vehicle] across [insert area], ensuring a safe, timely and customer-focused service.
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring goods are secured correctly for transportation.
• Complete routine vehicle safety checks and maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness.
• Use mobile delivery systems to follow routes, record deliveries and communicate professionally with customers.
• Represent the business professionally at customer sites and ensure all deliveries are completed in line with company procedures.

Are you our new colleague?

You are a friendly individual with strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including goods receiving, order picking, stock handling and dispatch activities. You have experience working within a busy operational environment and understand the importance of accuracy, organisation and Health & Safety compliance.

You are also comfortable providing driving cover when required and have experience driving 7.5 / 10 / 12 tonne vehicles or similar commercial vehicles. It would be advantageous if you have experience using warehouse systems, mobile delivery applications, trade counter operations or forklift trucks (Reach and/or Counterbalance).

What you bring

• A valid licence to drive a [7.5 / 10 / 12 tonne vehicle].
• Previous experience carrying out multi-drop deliveries or commercial driving duties.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe manual handling practices.
• Forklift experience (Reach and/or Counterbalance) or a willingness to undertake training.
• Ability to use mobile devices and warehouse systems effectively.
• A positive, team-focused attitude with strong communication skills.
