Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in Wigan seeks a part-time Warehouse Operative to load, unload, and pick stock with precise accuracy and safety. The role runs 16 hours per week, Sunday and Monday nights, 22:00–06:00, supporting efficient despatch and stock control.

You will work with FLTs, LLOPs, and scanners, maintaining HACCP standards while contributing to continuous improvement and team development. The position offers a company pension, holiday entitlement, and career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution preferred.
• Experience with order picking, loading/unloading, and stock control advantageous.
• Able to operate warehouse systems and handheld scanners.
• Attention to detail and ability to work accurately and safely.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

• Load and dispatch vehicles with the Despatch Team Leader to ensure on-time loads.
• Unload incoming vehicles, receipting goods and counting stock.
• Carry out case picking to assemble customer orders and deliver to destination.
• Perform stock replenishment and maintain inventory with warehouse systems.
• Operate Counterbalance FLTs, Reach Trucks, LLOPs, and RDTs per procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace in line with HACCP standards.
• Support continuous improvement projects and learning initiatives.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Load and dispatch vehicles efficiently, working closely with the Despatch Team Leader to ensure all loads leave on time and associated paperwork is completed accurately
• Unload incoming vehicles safely and accurately, ensuring goods are receipted correctly, stock is counted, and all documentation is completed within required timescales
• Carry out case picking activities to ensure customer orders are assembled accurately and delivered to the correct destination using the appropriate handling equipment
• Complete stock replenishment tasks, ensuring products are rotated correctly and inventory is maintained through the effective use of warehouse equipment and systems
• Operate a range of warehouse equipment, including Counterbalance FLTs, Reach Trucks, LLOPs, and Radio Data Terminals, while adhering to all operational procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety (HACCP) standards at all times
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects, contributing to business development programmes and ongoing team learning and development activities

Requirements

• Previous experience within a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment is desirable
• Experience in order picking, loading/unloading vehicles, and stock control would be advantageous
• Ability to use warehouse systems, handheld scanners, and FLT/LLOP equipment is beneficial
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately, safely, and meet performance targets
• A flexible team player with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to Health & Safety
