Job summary

Genuine Parts Company, at Alliance Automotive Logistics in Rotherham, is hiring a Warehouse Operative to support receipt, storage and dispatch of goods in a fast-paced environment. The role involves lifting up to 20kg, standing for long periods and using pallet trucks or forklifts (training provided).

You will work Monday to Friday, 14:00–23:00, with a £12.71 per hour rate plus a £2.20 supplement after 18:00.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment preferred but not essential.
• Ability to lift up to 20kg and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work flexible shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.
• Basic IT skills for data entry and scanning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and check incoming goods for quality and quantity.
• Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch in line with procedures.
• Operate warehouse equipment safely (pallet trucks and forklifts; training provided).
• Carry out stock checks and cycle counts; maintain inventory records.
• Keep the warehouse clean, tidy and compliant with safety regulations.
• Assist with loading/unloading of delivery vehicles efficiently.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily targets.
• Report discrepancies, damages or safety issues to management.
• Follow all company policies and safety procedures.

Location: Alliance Automotive Logistics, Rotherham Reports To: First Line Manager Shift: Monday to Friday, 1400 - 2300 Rate: £12.71 p/h plus supplement £2.20 supplement after 1800 ** 7th December starts on a permanent contract** As a Warehouse Operative at our National Distribution Centre in Rotherham, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment while delivering high standards of accuracy and productivity. This is a fast-paced dynamic warehouse environment and involves physically demanding tasks including lifting (up to 20kg) and standing / walking for extended periods of time (up to 7.5 hours depending on shift).

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and check incoming goods for quality and quantity
• Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch in line with company procedures
• Operate warehouse equipment safely, including pallet trucks and forklifts (training provided if required)
• Carry out stock checks, cycle counts, and maintain accurate inventory records
• Ensure the warehouse is clean, tidy, and compliant with health and safety regulations
• Assist with loading and unloading of delivery vehicles efficiently
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily operational targets
• Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety issues promptly to management
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to warehouse operations and safety

Essential Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment preferred but not essential
• Ability to work physically demanding tasks including lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in order processing
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends if required
