Job summary

Butler Rose Supply Chain is supporting a growing industrial business with a leadership role as Warehouse & Logistics Manager near Lancaster. You will own warehouse, distribution, inventory and logistics performance, combining hands-on leadership with a focus on continuous improvement.

You will set KPIs, coach the team, optimise layouts and processes, maintain stock accuracy, and manage 3PL relationships to balance service levels and cost.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing warehouse, logistics or distribution operations in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, WMS, inventory control and operational improvement.
  • Track record of improving performance through people, processes, and layouts.
  • Leadership skills including coaching, performance management and team development.
  • Commercial awareness across budgets, suppliers, service levels and risk.
  • Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities with strong communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring service, quality, productivity and safety.
  • Set and monitor operational KPIs, using data to identify issues and drive improvements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the warehouse team with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Improve layout, workflows, storage and handling to increase efficiency and capacity.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and stock controls, reducing excess and ageing stock.
  • Manage the WMS and its integration with ERP systems, including upgrades.
  • Ensure procedures are clear, current and consistently followed.
  • Manage relationships with 3PL, haulage and distribution partners, balancing service and cost.
  • Support transport and route planning activity where required.
  • Control warehouse expenditure and identify productivity and waste reduction opportunities.
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, equipment and regulatory compliance.
  • Plan resources and capacity around current needs and future growth.
  • Collaborate with broader teams on operational projects and improvements.

Warehouse & Logistics Manager

GBP45,000 - GBP50,000 + Bonus Outskirts of Lancaster

Butler Rose Supply Chain is supporting a growing industrial business in the appointment of an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Manager.

This is a key leadership role for an operationally strong warehouse professional who can develop people, improve processes and ensure the warehouse and logistics function is equipped to support continued growth.

The Role

You'll take ownership of warehouse, distribution, inventory and logistics performance, combining hands-on leadership with a focus on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring strong service, quality, productivity and safety.
  • Set and monitor operational KPIs, using data to identify issues and deliver improvements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the warehouse team, creating clear expectations and a culture of accountability.
  • Improve warehouse layout, workflows, storage and handling processes to increase efficiency and capacity.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and effective stock controls, with a focus on reducing excess and ageing stock.
  • Manage the WMS and support its integration with wider ERP systems, including future upgrades and improvements.
  • Ensure operational procedures are clear, current and consistently followed.
  • Manage relationships with 3PL, haulage and distribution partners, balancing service, cost and resilience.
  • Support transport and route planning activity where required.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing warehouse, logistics or distribution operations, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, FMCG or supply environments.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse processes, WMS, inventory control and operational improvement.
  • A track record of improving performance through people, process, systems or layout changes.
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, performance management and team development.
  • Commercial awareness across budgets, suppliers, service levels and operational risk.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Desirable

Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP experience, transport/route planning knowledge, and degree-level education or equivalent experience.
