The Warehouse General Assistant / Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse activities, including inventory management, order preparation, and maintaining a safe and organised workspace. The role also involves handling and transporting lead-acid batteries in compliance with safety regulations and providing engineering support for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of warehouse equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

General Warehouse Duties:

• Receive, inspect, and store incoming inventory.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular stock checks.
• Ensure the warehouse is clean, organised, and safe at all times.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  
  

Battery Handling:

• Safely handle and transport 12V lead-acid batteries weighing up to 32kg.
• Follow proper procedures for the storage and disposal of lead-acid batteries.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of battery storage areas.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines related to battery handling.
  
  

General Engineering Tasks:

• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of warehouse equipment and machinery.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to warehouse operations.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to improve warehouse processes and efficiency.
• Document engineering activities and maintain accurate records.
  
  

Adhere to the company's safe working practices, including observing rest periods, ensuring the safe deployment of products, and following the Method Statement and Risk Assessment set by the Health & Safety Manager.

Key Experience, Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or yard-based role.
• Basic engineering knowledge and experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
• Proficiency in maintenance and fault-finding tasks, with experience in CCTV systems preferred.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 32kg).
• Familiarity with safety practices and a commitment to working in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to battery handling would be beneficial although full training will be provided.
• CSCS card or prepared to undergo training to gain a CSCS card (training cost covered by the company).
• Forklift Truck license (advantageous).
• Full UK driving license (minor points considered).
• Ability to pass a DBS check (company-funded).
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
